SPRAT
The Idea
The idea behind SPRAT is to identify mentions of terms and relations in text, from which a new ontology is generated on-the-fly, or an existing ontology can be updated. It makes use of linguistic patterns as well as a combination of other tools and resources such as TermRaider and semantic information from WordNet and VerbNet. It identifies single and multi-word terms, as well as concepts, instances, and some basic relations. It is implemented as part of the GATE Web Services plugin in the NeOn toolkit.
